Jetsünma Jamyang Dolma is an accomplished teacher, practitioner, and lineage holder in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. His Holiness Sakya Trizin Rinpoche recognized Jetsünma as the rebirth of Karma Tsultrim Kechog Palmo, otherwise known as Freda Bedi (1911–1977). Freda Bedi was instrumental in bringing Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche to the West.
Jetsünma spent nine years in the Namdroling Monastic University (Shedra) studying all the major subjects of Buddhism. She followed her studies with seven years in retreat under the auspices of Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche. Afterward, Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche conferred upon her the title Jetsünma, ("venerable reverend") as the director of the study and practice centers of Turquoise Leaf Nunnery and Kusum Khandro Ling in Nepal. She has instructed the nuns there in traditional Buddhist scholarship and in all aspects of traditional three-year retreat.
Afterward, Jetsünma wanted not only to learn English, but to understand the minds of Westerners. So she spent two years studying psychology and Western philosophy at Boston University. Jetsünma uses this basis to teach to the real needs of modern people, both in alleviating stress in our daily lives and in the Buddhist quest for enlightenment. In the United States, Jetsünma primarily teaches at the Ewam Garden of One Thousand Buddhas in Montana in fluent English.
Jetsünma’s visit is being hosted by Sarah Plazas (translator for Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche), Ri-mé Society, Boulder Shambhala Center and Drala Mountain Center. We are all honored to welcome Jetsünma for her first visit to Colorado.
Cost of the public talk, Live or Live-Streamed: $30.
