Khenpo Lobzang Teaching
KHENPO LOBZANG WILL GIVE A TEACHING IN DENVER ON SUNDAY, JUNE 26
FROM 9:30-11:30 AM
ON DISTINGUISHING CONSCIOUSNESS FROM WISDOM
Khenpo Lobzang will teach the first part of a famed text by Buddhist master Karmapa Rangjung Dorje titled Distinguishing Consciousness from Wisdom that elucidates how the mind works. Using the Buddha’s view of dependent origination this treatise explains where delusion and non-delusion come from, how external phenomena are not other than mind, and how to relate in meditation with the eight types of consciousness to make the Buddha’s realization our own, as Rangjung Dorje did. This is a text on the topic of Buddhist psychology describing how the 8 consciousnesses work and how they are turned into the five wisdom upon enlightenment.
Rangjung Dorje, the Third Karmapa, at the age of 3 manifested the black hat which he obtained from the dakinis that the Karmapas have worn for the last 700 years and declared himself the reincarnation of the second Karmapa–Karma Pakshi. During his life he also spent a month with Dolpopa and introduced the Shentong teachings into the Kagyu lineage.
